Batman & Robin Adventures #11

Story by Ty Templeton
Art by Dev Madan and Rick Burchett
Colored by Roberta Tewes

So, what’s the story?

bra_11_coverAlfred wakes Bruce up in the middle of the night, complaining of a monstrous beast in the kitchen. Bruce waves off the incident as Alfred’s imagination. Later, Dick is eating a sandwich in the Batcave while Bruce tunes up the Batmobile. Suddenly, the sandwich goes missing. Moments later, Bruce and Dick see a Man-Bat flying through the cave. They suit up and go hunting for the creature, armed with anti-mutagen. When they find the creature, they learn this one can talk, and soon discover it’s Kirk Langstrom himself! Moments later, Man-Bat has Batman pinned, and could easily snuff out the Dark Knight, but the Man-Bat destroys the anti-mutagen gun instead. Batman feels that Man-Bat is not intent on hurting anyone, and so agrees to let Man-Bat live in the deepest parts of the cave, so long as he does not hurt anyone.

A simple but fun story. Not every story has to be a “save the world” tale. Sometimes a slice of life in the Batcave is nice. Besides, I always liked the idea of Man-Bat hanging out in the Batcave.

How’s the Art?

Burchett had some help this time out. The art is strong, but not Burchett’s finest. My only real complaint is the depiction of some complicated shapes, like a coil of rope or a nest of bats. I couldn’t tell what those were supposed to be!

Any continuity issues?

Not really.

Anything of interest to customizers or cosplayers?

Only Alfred in his nightcap!

Is this issue worth my precious time?

Sure.
