So, what’s the story?
Led to believe his former fiancée Grace Lamont is dating Bruce Wayne behind his back, Two-Face kidnaps Grace after breaking out of Arkham Asylum. Batman and Robin search Gotham for Two-Face with no luck. Dick returns to his campus dorm room, only to be kidnapped by Two-Face. Bruce follows Two-Face’s instructions to meet at the Gotham Gardens, the new housing development Bruce has funded. Bruce and Dick are tied up and left to die when Two-face’s bombs go off. Once Two-Face and his men leave with Grace, the duo escapes the blaze and follows Two-Face to his boat. A few fisticuffs later and the party is over.
As much as I liked the first issue, this second half seemed less enticing to me. It’s still excellent, and a worthy script by Dini, but this part of the story was more straightforward than part one. Perhaps I just miss the interplay with all the additional “guest stars” like Harley and Joker. Still, it’s a satisfying ending when taken as a whole with part one.
The best moment of the issue is the last page, when it’s apparent that Grace has truly left Harvey behind for good.
How’s the Art?
More great art by Templeton and Burchett! There is an odd moment where Two-Face’s face turns purple, by I’ll attribute that to dramatic license. (Same thing goes for the cover.)
Any continuity issues?
As with part one, I think this could easily fit into the animated series, sometime before “Second Chance.” There’s nothing here that says otherwise.
Anything of interest to customizers or cosplayers?
Aside from Grace and a few thugs, nothing really noteworthy on the costume front.
Is this issue worth my precious time?
Yes, if you’ve read part one.
